As you set out for Ithaka<\/div>\n
hope your road is a long one,<\/div>\n
full of adventure, full of discovery.<\/div>\n
Laistrygonians, Cyclops,<\/div>\n
angry Poseidon\u2014don\u2019t be afraid of them:<\/div>\n
you\u2019ll never find things like that on your way<\/div>\n
as long as you keep your thoughts raised high,<\/div>\n
as long as a rare excitement<\/div>\n
stirs your spirit and your body.<\/div>\n
Laistrygonians, Cyclops,<\/div>\n
wild Poseidon\u2014you won\u2019t encounter them<\/div>\n
unless you bring them along inside your soul,<\/div>\n
unless your soul sets them up in front of you.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Hope your road is a long one.<\/div>\n
May there be many summer mornings when,<\/div>\n
with what pleasure, what joy,<\/div>\n
you enter harbors you\u2019re seeing for the first time;<\/div>\n
may you stop at Phoenician trading stations<\/div>\n
to buy fine things,<\/div>\n
mother of pearl and coral, amber and ebony,<\/div>\n
sensual perfume of every kind\u2014<\/div>\n
as many sensual perfumes as you can;<\/div>\n
and may you visit many Egyptian cities<\/div>\n
to learn and go on learning from their scholars.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Keep Ithaka always in your mind.<\/div>\n
Arriving there is what you\u2019re destined for.<\/div>\n
But don\u2019t hurry the journey at all.<\/div>\n
Better if it lasts for years,<\/div>\n
so you\u2019re old by the time you reach the island,<\/div>\n
wealthy with all you\u2019ve gained on the way,<\/div>\n
not expecting Ithaka to make you rich.<\/div>\n

Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey.<\/div>\n
Without her you wouldn’t have set out.<\/div>\n
She has nothing left to give you now.<\/div>\n

And if you find her poor, Ithaka won\u2019t have fooled you.<\/div>\n
Wise as you will have become, so full of experience,<\/div>\n
you\u2019ll have understood by then what these Ithakas mean.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Cuando emprendas tu viaje a \u00cdtaca
\npide que el camino sea largo,
\nlleno de aventuras, lleno de experiencias.
\nNo temas a los lestrigones ni a los c\u00edclopes
\nni al col\u00e9rico Poseid\u00f3n,
\nseres tales jam\u00e1s hallar\u00e1s en tu camino,
\nsi tu pensar es elevado, si selecta
\nes la emoci\u00f3n que toca tu esp\u00edritu y tu cuerpo.
\nNi a los lestrigones ni a los c\u00edclopes
\nni al salvaje Poseid\u00f3n encontrar\u00e1s,
\nsi no los llevas dentro de tu alma,
\nsi no los yergue tu alma ante ti.<\/p>\n

Pide que el camino sea largo.
\nQue muchas sean las ma\u00f1anas de verano
\nen que llegues -\u00a1con qu\u00e9 placer y alegr\u00eda!-
\na puertos nunca vistos antes.
\nDetente en los emporios de Fenicia
\ny hazte con hermosas mercanc\u00edas,
\nn\u00e1car y coral, \u00e1mbar y \u00e9bano
\ny toda suerte de perfumes sensuales,
\ncuantos m\u00e1s abundantes perfumes sensuales puedas.
\nVe a muchas ciudades egipcias
\na aprender, a aprender de sus sabios.<\/p>\n

Ten siempre a \u00cdtaca en tu mente.
\nLlegar all\u00ed es tu destino.
\nMas no apresures nunca el viaje.
\nMejor que dure muchos a\u00f1os
\ny atracar, viejo ya, en la isla,
\nenriquecido de cuanto ganaste en el camino
\nsin aguantar a que \u00cdtaca te enriquezca.<\/p>\n

\u00cdtaca te brind\u00f3 tan hermoso viaje.
\nSin ella no habr\u00edas emprendido el camino.
\nPero no tiene ya nada que darte.<\/p>\n

Aunque la halles pobre, \u00cdtaca no te ha enga\u00f1ado.
\nAs\u00ed, sabio como te has vuelto, con tanta experiencia,
\nentender\u00e1s ya qu\u00e9 significan las \u00cdtacas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
