My Name is Olivia Lewis. I am proudly the new \u00abAuxiliar de Conversaci\u00f3n\u00bb at IES Huelin. In the Fall of 2019 I left Washington DC to teach, learn and live in Spain. During the past year, I have learned a lot about the elements of Spanish culture, language and education. All of my expectations about Spain thus far have been surpassed. I couldn\u2019t be happier. <\/strong>

Me llamo Olivia Lewis y estoy orgullosa de ser la nueva \u00abAuxiliar de Conversaci\u00f3n\u00bb en el IES Huelin. En el oto\u00f1o de 2010, dej\u00e9 Washington DC para ense\u00f1ar, aprender y vivir en Espa\u00f1a. En el \u00faltimo a\u00f1o he aprendido mucho sobre diversos elementos de la cultura, la lengua y la educaci\u00f3n espa\u00f1olas. Todas mis expectativas hasta la fecha han sido sobrepasadas. No puedo estar m\u00e1s feliz aqu\u00ed.

Last year, I was placed In a secondary school in a \u00abpueblo\u00bb in Cordoba. I had the opportunity to build strong relationships with students, teachers and town people in my little community in \u00abThe Sierras\u00bb. They taught me about typical customs of \u00abpueblo\u00bb living in Cordoba. Such as olive farming, COVAP, Jam\u00f3n Ib\u00e9rico, Salmorejo and Mountain biking.

El a\u00f1o pasado obtuve destino en un instituto en un pueblo en C\u00f3rdoba, donde tuve la oportunidad de establecer fuertes lazos con los alumnos, los profesores y los habitantes del lugar en mi peque\u00f1a comunidad en \u00abLas Sierras\u00bb. Ellos me ense\u00f1aron diferentes aspectos de la vida en en un pueblo de la provincia de C\u00f3rdoba tales como la oleicultura, COVAP, el jam\u00f3n ib\u00e9rico, el salmorejo y el ciclismo de monta\u00f1a.

I will take all of the educational and cultural knowledge that I have learned from last year and apply it this year so that I can be of even better service at IES Huelin. Since starting at the institute, I have tried to establish an open dialogue with the students and my coworkers. I want them to feel comfortable asking me questions related to their bilingual studies at any time. My strategy to be successful begins with having a positive and somewhat silly attitude. I believe that learning English can be fun.

Aprovechar\u00e9 todo el conocimiento educativo y cultural que adquir\u00ed el a\u00f1o pasado y lo aplicar\u00e9 este a\u00f1o para que pueda prestar un mejor servicio en el IES Huelin. Desde que empec\u00e9 en el instituto, he intentado mantener un di\u00e1logo abierto con los alumnos y mis compa\u00f1eros de trabajo. Quiero que ellos se sientan c\u00f3modos haci\u00e9ndome preguntas relacionadas con sus estudios biling\u00fces en cualquier momento. Mi estrategia para tener \u00e9xito comienza con tener una actitud positiva y un poquito \u00abtonta\u00bb. Creo que aprender ingl\u00e9s puede ser algo divertido.

I am in a teaching position but I believe that the students and teachers have an equal amount if not more richness to share with me than I have to them. I have learned so much this past year. My journey is far from finished and I am thrilled to continue learning with the students and teachers at IES Huelin. Cheers!
